International Symposium on Dental Hygiene 2024:

Make Your Plans Now!

ISDH 2024 will take place at COEX, Seoul, South Korea for a span of three days from July 11-13, 2024, the second of its kind to be held in Asia. This year’s symposium theme is “Dental Hygienist, the Center of Oral Health.” It will encompass four sub-themes represented by the acronym CORE: Collaboration, Optimization, Reimagination, and Equality.

262 Abstracts Submitted from 25 Countries!!
Invited speakers include 18 individuals from 7 different countries. Plenary presentations are from:

Leadership Seminar:
Associations may succeed or fail on the strength of their leaders. Do you have the leadership skills to help your association succeed? Leadership issues for associations are many and varied, and they affect every aspect of your organization. This workshop addresses some of the challenges you may face in your organization and will help improve not only how your association functions but will benefit your own professional skills as well

IFDH Attends ADEA Women in Leadership Workshop

The IFDH was well represented at the recent International Women’s Leadership Conference (IWLC), hosted by the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) in New Orleans. President-Elect Jill Rethman, Vice President Fouzieh Eliassy, and Secretary Sharon Friedman attended the two-day event. With speakers from across the globe, the conference provided a worldwide perspective of women in leadership and how they are making a difference in policy, service, research, and more. Board Visits Joint Research Annual Conferences

The Board of IFDH were in New Orleans in March to take part in a number of conferences and meetings. President Wanda Fedora was in attendance at the Opening ceremony of the International Association of Dental, Oral and Craniofacial Research (IADR) conference which was held in conjunction with the American Association of Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research and the Canadian Association of Dental Research. Click here for rest of the article.

Board Interviewed on ADHA Podcast

The American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) Past President and podcast host Matt Crespin interviewed IFDH President Wanda Fedora and President Elect Jill Rethman in January. IFDH Represented at 2 European Meetings

We thank IFDH Past President Corrie Jongbloed-Zoet for representing IFDH at these 2 meetings recently.

The IFDH Platform for Better Oral Health: On February 13th, the new Manifesto of the Platform for Better Oral Health in Europe, was presented in the European Parliament in Brussels, Belgium, entitled “Smile your way to a Healthy Life”. Click here for rest of the article. European Federation of Periodontology: The EFP presented a white paper called “Time to put your money where your mouth is”, addressing inequalities in oral health. Click here for rest of the article.


IFDH Announce Pre-Symposium Research Conference

Exciting news! Are you writing a scientific research paper or reviewing a scientific paper for your Journal? Possibly you are a student preparing a research document for your education. This is the seminar for you! The Editor in Chief of the International Journal of Dental Hygiene, Dagmar Slot, will be hosting a seminar to develop your research writing and reviewing skills. The Seminar will be held July 10th, the day prior to the opening of the international Symposium on Dental Hygiene in Seoul. Take Our 9th Survey:
ORTHODONTIC HYGIENE

IFDH has been undertaking several surveys since 2019. Its 9th in a series of surveys will help us better understand global practices around orthodontic hygiene. It is now open to all Dental Hygienists and Oral Health Therapists. We thank P&G for their support of this program. The information is very useful and will help guide future learning opportunities. Also, consistent with previous surveys, no personal information is collected and all responses are anonymous.

2 New White Papers in Progress

Haleon

Over a three-year period, the IFDH will oversee a series of six White Papers with Haleon sponsorship to provide evidence-based guidance and information to its 33 national association country members. The intent of the series is to provide a global perspective on the multi-faceted impact of dental hygienists.

Presented in Seoul at ISDH!

The new and improved 2024 World Dental Hygienist Awards will be awarded during the International Symposium of Dental Hygiene in Seoul, S. Korea in July 2024. After a two-year hiatus forced by Covid-19, Sunstar Foundation and IFDH present a revamped version of the World Dental Hygienist Awards, broken out into regional Awards of Distinction.
